Professional dating is big news; with more singles looking for authentic, like-minded matches with guys and girls who share their lifestyle and aspirations. Let's see if the UK's fastest-growing platform meets up to our expectations!
ProfessionalFreeandSingle isn't what I was expecting! The membership costs - if you decide to go VIP - are really good value, and I was impressed with how many features you have access to even on a free account. What struck me was that the platform feels friendly, relaxed and stress-free! There aren't any manic pop-ups urging you to do anything immediately, and the clean white background makes it a chilled out site where you can take your time to browse, see who is online now, perhaps peruse a couple of diaries from other members, and just take your time to enjoy the experience and see who you've matched with!
Profiles are clear, photos are good quality, and every match recommendation has a short summary (name, age, location) so it's easy to flick through your suggestions and see who looks like they might be worth a message.
ProfessionalFreeandSingle has also added a free messaging function. Though you'll need to upgrade to get full access to every premium feature on the site, it's great that you can chat and flirt to a certain extent without feeling that an upgrade is mandatory. There's a lot of thought gone into the site layout and functions - as a newbie user I didn't need to use the FAQs or search bar once to find what I was looking for.
“No-nonsense, easy to use, intuitive dating site with low-cost membership and bespoke match recommendations for professional UK singles.”
In terms of ease; I'm not sure I've ever registered with a dating site faster! The sign-up process simply asks for your gender and which gender you'd like to meet, your first name, DOB and an email address - and bingo!
I like this; while I know it might mean that some users don't bother to complete any profile information at all, it does give you the opportunity to have a scout around the site, see who's there, and decide whether it's right for you without the laborious process of answering questions about yourself, and trying to create an awesome profile description - that you might never use...
Anyhow, once you've registered, you get to the questions and can skip every step if you're not ready to start filling in details and come back to it whenever you wish. You do need to click on the verification link in your email inbox to get onto the match recommendations.
The site is well laid out, and simple to navigate. The top toolbar contains links to all the main features, and you are welcomed by a grid of profile photos, showing who is online, which members the site suggests for you (based on your registration) and a shortlist of member activity that reads like a social media thread.
Features include:
If you decide to delete your account? That's a piece of cake too - simply go to Account in the top right-hand corner, select Site Membership, and click on the green bottom in the bottom left.
While I'm not keen on the landing page image, I didn't find much else not to like about ProfessionalFreeAndSingle - and I'm always on the lookout for catches or poor security that are a red flag!
The site is ridiculously easy to use; and works for your benefit, rather than pushing you to upgrade. There are blogs and advice guides for people who are new to online dating, and a raft of features, many of which are free to use even if you're on a standard membership and aren't spending a penny!
I didn't come across any annoying ads, although there are a couple of pop-ups that show you features or premium upgrades you can pay for as an add on. The Encounters matching game works well, and although I think it's well worth spending time creating exact parameters in your profile (I didn't, and ended up with matches from age 37 up to 80!), if you do provide the right level of detail, you'll get personalised suggestions of people who fit with your relationship preferences.
Another plus point for me is the attention on user safety; when you first register, you've given a link of Safety Tips and asked to tick a box confirming you've had a read through. It's refreshing to see safety being made a priority, and something to consider before you start messaging people online - rather than an afterthought in case something goes disastrously wrong!
It doesn't feel aloof as I had thought it might; the people on the site aren't just doctors or lawyers, but everyday people who are passionate about their careers and want to meet men and women who share their interests.
All in all, an excellent professional dating service for UK singles, and one that couldn't be easier to use.
